Anniversary party is an annual event, which celebrates the student unions by eating and drinking very tastefully and with style! Therefore all new, old and already graduated students can, must and should take part in the celebration. The entire staff of Laura is welcome too. In addition, people from different student unions, organizations and representatives from working life will take part in the anniversary. Anniversary is a very festive occasion, but it does not limit the fun at all, quite the opposite.

Dress code

The anniversary event's dress code is dress / dark suit. For men tailcoat is the perfect choice, but the lack of one not an obstacle to participation, a dark suit fits as well. For women the event requires an evening or festive dress. The only practical requirement is the length of the dress should reach below the knees. Dress codes have their roots in university student activities and traditions and they are strictly enforced . LAUREAMKO hopes that the dress code does not prevent any of the student's participation in the annual celebration, which is why we do not wish to overemphasis the meaning of the dress code.

The event

The evening starts with greetings a reception place in the lobby. Anyone may present greetings but often they are received from other student unions and organizations. After the greetings people take their places in the dining area in acording to the seating order. The occasion follows the general etiquette. This perhaps may sound intimidating but it's not too difficult. Using common sense and by following others will get you far. It is not polite to leave the table to talk to your friends or to powder your nose during speeches or while eating .

Singing is an essential part of the anniversary party. The host or song leader usually start a song. The hoast can controll the singing throughout the evening or give a table a suite for a freer rein. However the host initiates joint songs and he can also suggest songs. There are lyrics to songs printed on the dinner card so there is no need to be nervous about singing. It is common to raise a toast after singing. At LAUREAMKOs event the etiquette is to raise the glass so that the men raised his glass to the right to their lady, then to the left and finally to front. And women do, of course, vice versa. Remember to look into the eyes when toasting!

The evening includes an appetizer, main course and dessert. Dessert is served with coffee and brandy or punch. Meals can be interrupted by various speeches or drinking songs. During the dessert, speech is free which traditionally sets out a more or less rehearsed speeches for the celebrating student union. During the celebrations you also have the opportunity to follow different LAUREAMKO's traditions. They are not being told in advance so you have to get yourself to experience with them!
